The Differences Between BBL and Forever Clear® BBL
BroadBand Light Therapy (BBL™) uses advanced regenerative technology to enhance how your skin looks. This facial treatment helps our patients in Dallas, TX to achieve a bright, youthful, and clear complexion. At Modern Medical Spa, our highly trained and certified technicians use the Sciton® mJOULE™ laser during a photofacial to produce therapeutic intense pulsed light (IPL) energy that mildly heats your skin and jumpstarts collagen production.
Individuals with signs of aging, including fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, skin damage, or sun spots, all can benefit from BBL therapy because it minimizes the appearance of these skin concerns. We also offer Forever Clear BBL™ to those with acne who haven’t found results from other treatments. BBL therapy offers a more even and smooth surface skin texture with a fresh and bright skin tone. Dr. David Genecov offers these treatments to men and women as a single treatment or in combination with other services that revitalize their skin.
What is BroadBand Light Therapy?
BBL reduces the appearance of signs of aging and sun damage on the face. It uses Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy to produce younger-looking and brighter skin that is firm and even-toned. Dr. Genecov recommends BBL to patients with sun damage, red spider veins on the face, hyperpigmentation, or rosacea. Depending on the severity of your skin, he may recommend 3 – 5 treatments a month apart for the best results. This treatment feels like a rubber band snap with every pulse. A numbing cream can be applied prior to treatment to keep you comfortable. After treatment, your skin will feel like it has a mild sunburn for a day or two.
What is Forever Clear BBL?
Forever Clear BBL uses pulses of light to target acne-causing bacteria and to reduce inflammation or discoloration on the skin. It also can help treat acne scarring. Each pulse is like vitamins for your skin in Dallas, TX. There are different colors that can be used:
Blue: This light eliminates acne bacteria deep into the skin pores.
Red: This red light regenerates collagen productions, which helps you to shed damaged or diseased skin cells quickly.
Yellow: Yellow light reduces inflammation and redness.
This is considered the most powerful IPL treatment on the market and is the best choice for patients suffering from acne or acne scarring. Similar to the BBL, it can sting during treatment and for a few days after your treatment. Your entire session will only take about 15 – 30 minutes, and you will see results in a few days to a few weeks after treatment. Your results will continue to show for many months after your treatment at Modern Medical Spa.
Differences between BBL and Forever Clear BBL
During a consultation at Modern Medical Spa, Dr. Genecov can explain the differences between these two treatments. Ultimately, the Forever Clear is usually only performed where someone may suffer from acne, including the face, chest, or back, while the BBL treatment can treat nearly all areas of the body that may have experienced sun damage. Another difference is the time between sessions. For a regular BBL treatment, we recommend 3 – 4 sessions about a month apart while we recommend quarterly sessions for Forever Young BBL therapy.
Am I a good candidate for BBL treatment?
BBL treatment is best for adults who want to improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, including sun spots or freckles, or unevenly textured skin caused by acne, sun damage, rosacea, or spider veins. BBL also helps make the complexion appear younger and improves its tone by jumpstarting collagen production in the top layers of skin. Ultimately, patients who have persistent acne are ideal candidates for Forever Clear BBL treatment, which uses advanced light therapy that can get rid of acne-causing bacteria. During a consultation, Dr. Genecov can make his professional recommendation for which treatment will suit your skin best.
