Botox can address frown lines and Chin Dimpling

This client aged 46-55 presented with strong frown lines and chin dimpling. She wanted to have a natural softer look. Our injectors skillfully administered Botox to target the depressor anguli oris (DAO's) and mentalis muscles (chin), unveiling a natural, softer, and more youthful apearance.

Botox injections can help reduce the appearance of frown lines by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for creating those lines.

Here's how it works:

1. Understanding frown lines: Frown lines, also known as glabellar lines or "11" lines, are vertical creases that appear between the eyebrows when you frown or make certain facial expressions. They are caused by the repetitive contraction of muscles in that area over time.

2. Botulinum toxin (Botox): Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. When used in cosmetic procedures, it is injected in very small, controlled amounts.

3. Targeting the muscles: During a Botox treatment, a healthcare professional or a qualified injector will carefully administer the injections into specific muscles that contribute to frown lines. In the case of frown lines, the injections are typically placed in the muscles between the eyebrows, called the corrugator and procerus muscles.

4. Temporary muscle relaxation: Once injected, Botox works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This prevents the muscles from receiving the signal to contract, effectively relaxing them. As a result, the overactive muscles responsible for frown lines are temporarily weakened or paralyzed.

5. Smoothing out frown lines: With the targeted muscles relaxed, the appearance of frown lines is significantly reduced. The skin above the treated muscles becomes smoother, and the creases gradually fade away. It typically takes a few days to a week for the full effects of Botox to become visible.

6. Duration of results: The effects of Botox injections are temporary and usually last for about three to four months. Over time, as the effects wear off, the muscles regain their normal function, and frown lines may gradually reappear. To maintain the results, repeat injections are necessary.

It's important to note that Botox should only be administered by a qualified medical professional with expertise in cosmetic procedures. They will evaluate your suitability for the treatment and determine the appropriate dosage and injection sites to achieve the desired results.
